Tutukaka is 25 minutes drive from Whangarei, Northland’s largest city.
A pleasant cruise to the North-East coast takes you through the scenic stone-walled Glenbervie countryside, past historic seaside Ngunguru and over the hill to the beautiful deep-water harbour and Tutukaka Marina.
Just past Tutukaka are the stunning white sandy beaches of Matapouri, Whale Bay and Woolleys and the famous surf beach, Sandy Bay.

The Poor Knights Dive Centre is on the corner of Marina Road and Marlin Place and right next door to Schnappa Rock Restaurant.
Our Dive! Shuttle travels twice daily to and from Whangarei, $20 return for Dive! customers, confirmed at the time you make your booking.
Several bus companies travel daily to Whangarei, and we can pick you up from your accommodation, take you out to the Poor Knights Islands for the days, and get you back in time for the evening bus back to Auckland, or further north to Paihia. Transport options
The drive time from Auckland is 2.5 hours, and from Paihia is 1.15 hours.
