Orca footage, along the local Northland Coast.

Dr. Ingrid Visser is paaionate about orca, and is the world’s leading Orca scientist and researcher. She lives on the Tutukaka Coast, and it is here that many of her sightings occur, and is also where she has based her Orca HQ.
The orca are commonly sighted all along the coast here, and we have had some amazing encounters, thanks to Ingrid!

One of our customers took this footage not so long ago, check out her blog and some pretty great photos too!

Blue Maomao Arch.

Steve came out with the Cousteau team when they were diving at the Poor Knights, Jean-Michel, the son of the late Jacques Cousteau was in New Zealand and staying here in Tutukaka.
This footage was shot in Blue Maomao Arch, and really shows the true benefits of a Marine Reserve; the amount of fish here is mind blowing. This is what we see almost every day out at the Poor Knights, and imagine what it used to look like. There is no reason why it can’t be like be like this on the local coast.

Greg Van der Hulst took this footage of bronzies out at the Poor Knights.

UWEI World Record 2005

Underwater Extreme Ironing is a challenging sport, that demands committment and focus from its athletes. This event was held under water, beside the Waikato wreck, at a depth of 28 metres, off the Tutukaka Coast.
Much kudos and thanks go to the boys at scubazoo for their film and editing skills.

Dived 2 days (16th & 17th January 2009)

Thanks for the emailed information and details for accommodation choices. I dived the Poor Knights with another instructor and I’ve over 2 days and have been very impressed with the company’s staff, quality of service, speed of gearing up in the morning, boats and the skipper in particular. I’ve been diving all round the world on a personal quest, to dive the worlds best sites and so far Dive Tutukaka has been exemplary in service handling, boats and from I can, general logistics. Apart from coming back in early March when the water clears and fish life intensifies I’l certainly be recommending your company to professional and friends.

The only ‘personal’ request would be to have a choice between a Chocolate biscuit and say an Almond biscuit (I’m not a chocolate fan you see and prefer fruit biscuits). Its remarkable that its the only item I could possibly think of to change !!
